Making a Will
Never got round to it? Put it off for one reason or another? Seven out of ten adults still die without making a will, often leaving their loved ones to sort out complicated and stressful financial matters. Remember a will is a good investment which buys peace of mind for you and your family.
Please make an appointment to provide us with instructions to prepare your will. If you have difficulties in coming to the office then we will be happy to make a home visit at no extra cost to you.
A single will, without the need for tax planning, is prepared at a fixed fee of £75 plus vat.
Mirror wills (husband and wife), without the need for tax planning, are prepared at a fixed fee of £140 plus vat (for both).
Commercial Law
Hutcheson Forrest Solicitors are pleased to be associated with key companies in the Bath area. We represent many local companies from some of the major employers right down to one-man operations. In these difficult commercial times, businesses need advice on a wide range of commercial issues. We have found that a number of local companies have been surprised that we can offer the same expertise that large city firms offer and of course at less cost. There is no need to use commercial firms in Bristol and London who do not have the same local knowledge as ourselves.

Accident Claims
Making a claim has never been more easy with adverts in the newspapers and even on television. Don’t be fooled! Solicitors have always represented clients in personal injury cases because they are the ones who end up in Court fighting for your compensation, not the man on the television. When you have been injured, you need realistic advice. You need to know the costs, and what you can realistically hope to achieve.
Hutcheson Forrest Solicitors has always represented clients who have been injured and have over 15 years experience of doing this. If necessary, we can visit you at home or at hospital if you are not able to get into the office.
There are many myths and much talk these days of a compensation culture, so let our experience break down the myths and barriers for you.

Debt Recovery
It is difficult getting blood out of a stone but we will try and help. Obtaining a County Court Judgment is just the first step and in this day and age a robust and determined assault is needed to pin the debtor down. An attachment of earnings order, oral examinations, freezing orders and, if necessary, statutory demands and bankruptcy can be pursued against the debtor.
We will let you know which is the best option and the likely cost and timescale involved.
Elderly Client Services
We offer a special range of services to meet the needs of elderly clients and clients with elderly relatives. Home visits may be arranged and we place great importance on the establishment of a good relationship between client and solicitor.
An Enduring Power of Attorney may be required in the future, even if you are perfectly healthy now. Having an Enduring Power of Attorney prepared and retained with your will could mean that your family will not be put to the time and expense of having one of them appointed your Receiver should you become mentally incapable of dealing with your financial affairs in the future.
If you choose to have an Enduring Power of Attorney document prepared at the same time as our dealing with your will, then we can do this at a reduced rate of £400 plus VAT.
